Description of the problem | The brake rotor sheared apart between the flange section which bolts to the axle and the outer section which the pads clamp on too. It is my opinion that the casting is defective and the section which failed should retain its structural integrity long after the rotors have worn out due to wear and tear. It appears that the rotors would otherwise have had another 30,000 miles to go before needing to be replaced had the failure not occurred. Had this failure occurred on the highway, it is likely that there would have been catastrophic consequences.*ak |
