Description of the problem | I purchased a brand new 2016 chevrolet colorado duromax diesel in september of 2016. At 9,638 miles the check engine light came on for the nox sensor. The dealership replaced them but it did not fix anything. As it turns out the issue was a recall which reprogrammed the ecu. They decided to make the tolerances looser on the sensors. At 10,647 miles there was a loud wining coming from the rear of the vehicle. The race to the pinion bearing in the rear differential was pitted and causing the bearing to fail. The rear differential needed to be rebuilt. At 22715 miles the truck would go into reduced power mode which is 25 miles per hour in the middle of the freeway causing other motorists to swerve to avoid a collision. When the truck was turned off and turned back on the error would clear and the vehicle was drivable again. The dealership could not replicate the issue so it took many visits before they replaced the accelerator pedal position sensor. After this did not fix the issue and almost caused another accident the vehicle was taken in and the complete wiring harness was replace. The technician stated that the connectors were improperly crimped at the factory. The truck is now at the dealership again at 26,000 miles to replace the diesel exhaust fluid pump. This fault also causes the vehicle to go into reduced power mode which almost caused an accident again. This vehicle is not reliable, dangerous, and i do not feel safe driving it, especially when my family is with me. I contacted chevrolet customer assistance team concentrix on behalf of chevrolet to seek a solution on a brand new vehicle that had major problems. The representative did not care and told me to pursue a resolution on my own. |
