Description of the problem | While driving out of my driveway, i suddenly lost both power steering and power brakes. I was able to get back into my driveway, but with considerable effort. I called my mechanic and was advised that the power steering pump had failed, causing the power brakes to fail, also. The power steering pump shaft broke. I use the truck mostly to tow a horse trailer. I shudder to think what may have happened had the failure occurred on my way to a camp site on a curving two lane road. I researched the failure on line and discovered it is not a rare occurrence, and has been happening to several model year chevrolet trucks. This is a low mileage vehicle i purchased new. It has never been abused or misused. |
