Description of the problem | Takata recall: upon receipt of the recall notice, i have been contacting gm about this. The standard answer i have been given each time is that a 'repair is not yet available' along with 'lack of available replacement parts'. Now the call center told me that they are replacing the airbags but due to the number of affected vehicles that it is going to take a very long time and i cannot just go to my local dealership for the repair and that i must wait for the letter to come in the mail to get the airbags replaced. I plan to call my local dealership to see if they have a different perspective. If the vin shows needing replacement, one should be able to the dealership for immediate replacement of a potentially life threatening device. There nhtsa shouldn't allow any "petition of inconsequentiality" when it comes to life saving decisions, tell the oem to replace 100%, no exceptions. |
