Description of the problem | Chrysler 200c awd. While sitting at a red light suddenly my dash lit up with the red "service transmission" message then "shift to p then desired gear" and "service park brake". I wasn't able to shift at all, the selector would stay in "p" or the light on the selector would go from "p" to "s" directly bypassing "n" and "d" with just one twist but the car would stay in park. I tried restarting the car a few times with no success. After calling chrysler roadside assistance and starting to wait an unknown amount of time for a tow i decided to try a electronic "reboot" by disconnecting the negative terminal in the battery. After leaving it off for a couple of minutes then reconnecting i was able to restart and shift the transmission into "d" and get moving again. My check engine light is now illuminated and i am really concerned it will happen again. |
