Description of the problem | Vehicle exhibited "unintended acceleration"; the engine and vehicle suddenly accelerated on it's own while making a slow (10 mph) left hand turn. Vehicle lurched forward and accelerated. Acceleration lasted for a few seconds after i applied the brakes but did stop accelerating at that point. I was able to stop just short of a parked car i was trying to park behind. This is the only time this has happened before or since the incident. Note: i am an ex powertrain calibration engineer so i know unintended acceleration from my previous employment. Also, my foot was not on the gas pedal when the incident happened. And there was no floor mat interference (pedal physically can't reach the floor). |
