Description of the problem | Tl* the contact owns a 2011 dodge durango. While driving 30 mph, smoke appeared under the hood and into the vehicle. The hood was opened and the contact noticed small flames coming from the alternator and heard a sizzling sound. The vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 14v634000 (electrical system). A police report was not filed. The fire extinguished itself. There were no injuries. The vehicle was driven to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the alternator burned. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000. |
