Description of the problem | While stopped with the vehicle in park after just coming off of the interstate at a truck stop, the passenger side active headrest popped. No damage had occurred to the vehicle, no large bumps or curbs were hit. Luckily we were stopped and no injury occurred. Unfortunately this is a huge expense to fix at a dealership (over $700 just for the part plus shop hours making it about a $1000 expense not covered by warranty!) this is a huge safety concern - 1. If we are now in a collision prior to repair will our airbags deploy as this is part of the whole system (and the one is already sprung so could damage occur because of that) 2. If we had been driving and it were to deploy and hit someone it the back of the head it could easily cause an accident causing injury or even death to occupants and to occupants of other vehicles! This could be extremely dangerous! |
