Description of the problem | While traveling on the interstate 80 miles from home the coolant light went off and the temp gauge ran hot. Pulled over and cooled down; lights went off. Pulled up info for a nearby dealership and tried to drive to it . Only got about a mile and lights and gauge went off again. Tried to find a safe space to pull over on interstate; the shoulders are very narrow on i45. When pulled over engine light also came on and i turned engine off and it would not restart. Called tow truck, dealership replaced water pump but then found catastrophic engine damage. Fca knows there's a problem with water pump because they extended the warranty on it but they will not honor warranty on engine because they say i continued to drive with engine light on which i didn't. If water pump had been recalled i never would have had catastrophic engine failure. |
