Description of the problem | At 60,500 miles while driving at 60mph the transmission lost hydraulic power and we were forced to get towed from the highway to a local aamco transmission repair shop. The vehicle was diagnosed as having no hydraulic pressure and the mechanic theorized that the hydraulic pump had ceased and was no longer providing adequate fluid to the gears. There is a recall 16v461000 that is for this specific problem, yet despite falling in the range of the recalled vehicles manufacturing dates, we were told that we had no recourse because our specific vin number was not on the list. Right car, right model, right year, right manufacturing date range, exactly the same issue as the recall, and yet we are not on the list?? How is that possible? We were fortunate to be able to pull safely to the shoulder of the highway. |
