Description of the problem | At 17,000 passenger rear sliding door locking mechanism actuator failed. Door suddenly started making a buzzing noise when activated by key fob or front control switches. Paid dealership over $1,100 to replace a $17 dollar part. Now, at 26,000 driver's side rear sliding door locking mechanism has failed while driving. Door is locked shut and will not open or operate. This is a potential safety hazard as passengers may become trapped in vehicle if opposing door happened to be blocked. Internet blogs specifically speak of this condition as a common occurrence. A recall should be enforced to replace faulty lock actuator mechanism, thus reducing danger prior to needless harm or death. |
