Description of the problem | Vehicle lost all forward driving power when merging into traffic on 3 lane major highway from on ramp during rush hour traffic. Wrench light came on and vehicle entered limp mode. Nearly crashed because of limp mode caused reduced steering and reduced speed to maximum of 10 mph on highway with 55 mph speed limit. No where to pull over on highway so drove vehicle in limp mode off next exit. After parking and re-starting, reverse not engaging and now slipping in and out of drive gears. Towed to dealer. Dealer unable to diagnose transmission problem. During diagnosis dealer performed cost analysis and decided to replace entire transmission. Vehicle at dealer service center for 30 days. After picking up "repaired" vehicle a loud exhaust note is now prevalent. Need to take vehicle back to dealer service department for further diagnosis. |
