Description of the problem | Without warning, vehicle lost engine power and entered "limp mode" while driving down the interstate at between 65-70 mph. The power train warning lamp illuminated (wrench indicator light) as i pulled over to the side of the interstate. In this "limp mode" the engine continued to idle, but there was insufficient power to propel the vehicle. I switched the vehicle off and then on again with apparently normal operation after the restart. The problem occurred a second time within 500 miles of the first occurrence. I spoke with someone at a ford dealership and they mentioned the throttle body as the likely source. I had them replace the throttle body and i've not had this problem since. I've driven over 10k miles with the replacement throttle body without this issue occurring again. |
