Description of the problem | Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. While driving approximately 2 mph, a knocking sound was heard without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission seal fractured and caused the transmission fluid to flush out. The contact was informed to take the vehicle to a repair shop. The seal was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who diagnosed that the bearing needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and referred the contact to nhtsa. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000. |
