Description of the problem | A "wrench" symbol came on in the instrument panel. Checked the manual. Took the 2010 ford escape to waconia ford dealership where it was purchased new. Diagnostics came back as transmission problem with 5th gear. Options were repair at approximate $2750-3000 / 1 yr warranty or new/rebuilt at approximate $4500 / 3 yrs warranty the original warranty was for 60,000 miles the vehicle has around 62,500 miles chose not to extend the warranty. Yup, broke after about 2,500 miles after warranty expired. Dealership stated nothing they could do - i understand as they are the dealer not the manufacturer. Opted to have new/rebuilt done by waconia ford dealership. I believe it is a ford company problem and the company/manufacturer should take responsibility for its repair - at least to some degree with only about 2,500 miles after warranty expiration. |
