Description of the problem | The car was parked at a gas filling station to fill the gas tank. When attempting to leave the gas station, the car registered being in reverse and would not start. Upon examination, it was determined the bushing on the transmission and would no longer shift gears. In order to move the vehicle, the transmission needed to be shifted with one person manual held the shifting cable onto the transmission while someone in the vehicle moved the gear shift. As the gears were shifted, the person holding the cable in place made sure that it did not pop off so that it could be moved into gear. If the person did not hold the cable down, it would not shift gears. We were able to get the vehicle home and repeat the process to get it into park. The car is not safely able to be driven in the condition it currently is. |
