Description of the problem | My wife was traveling at approximately 45 mph when the vehicle began to slow suddenly. The transmission began to "whine" and would not shift. The vehicle was taken to the local ford dealer for diagnosis. The dealer claimed that the transmission need to be replaced but gave no reason for the failure. The mileage was 84,074. I then had the vehicle towed to a transmission specialist. A thorough inspection revealed that the converter had failed and blew fluid back through the rest of the transmission. A full transmission replacement was still required. The transmission specialist stated that the transmission was too small for the vehicle. |
