Description of the problem | The skid plate underneath the engine and transmission has inadequate fasteners. The fasteners do not retain the skid plate and skid plate will come loose. In my case the skid plate came completely loose and fell onto the highway and was subsequently struck by another vehicle. All maintenance has been done by a ford dealership and they indicated this was a known problem. Items falling off of vehicles onto the highway is a safety concern. Especially when such items are large and difficult to avoid. I have written to ford with no resolution or acknowledgement of the problem. Parts should not be falling off of vehicles because of defective or inadequate fasteners. |
