Description of the problem	Driver side door latch broke and door opened up while driving. I was forced to drive the vehicle while holding my door shut and clutch shifting in order to get it to the dealership. The first dealership was unable to service it until august 25th 2016 (red mccombs ford west). So, i was forced to drive it 16 miles on the freeway to northside ford in san antonio. Because it has exceeded the 36k mile warranty, the repair bill is quoted at just under $700 because the "door latch mechanism failed" and needs to be replaced. I'm blessed this did not happen while turning right or had it been the rear passenger door with a child. I've read many reports about failed door latches with ford and not sure why this isn't being recalled and why ford isn't willing to put the safety of their customers first. Not to mention $700 to replace a faulty door latch which put me at risk for a major injury. I hope no one is seriously injured until a recall is finally honored. I feel like a grave injustice has occurred with ford's unwillingness to put myself and others' safety first. The vehicle is currently at the shop waiting on parts and them to be installed. I will have a statement once i retrieve my car.
