Description of the problem | Tl* the contact owns a 2014 ford fusion. While the vehicle was stationary, the transmission malfunctioned. The contact stated that the shifter was in the park position; however, the transmission operated in reverse. The contact engaged the emergency brake to avoid crashing into a building. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who re-attached the transmission linkage and was able to restart the vehicle. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall on the vehicle; however, the contact cited nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train) as a possible cause of the failure.
