Description of the problem | Takata recall i was originally notified of the recall by letter from ford customer service division in july of 2015. In may of 2016 i received another letter from them informing me that the required airbag modules would be available in the 4th quarter of 2016. Since then i have inquired at the dealership, 5 star ford in north richland hills, tx, on multiple occasions and was told each time that they had not received the required parts and knew nothing further regarding the matter. Since i reside in a hot and humid area which is said to be the worst environment for potential airbag module failures, it would seem logical that my area should be accorded a high priority for these replacement parts. Further, our area's traffic ranks it among the top 20 in the nation for congestion, making collisions more likely than in less congested areas. Any reasonable person would conclude that those factors should place our area near the top in priority for receiving the needed parts. Since my vehicle has not yet been repaired, apparently those parts went elsewhere. I am upset that ford has not met the timetable that they gave me in their letter of may 2016. Beyond that, the absolute lack of any meaningful further communication form ford or the dealership is a serious concern. If the parts are available, why has my vehicle not been repaired? Why is it that neither ford nor the dealership will provide any additional information regarding this serious safety risk? As a driver whose vehicle constitutes a risk to my safety every time i drive it, i am worried. Ford should have honored their written commitment to repair my vehicle in the 4th quarter of 2016, or failing that, at least have let me know when i can expect to have my vehice made safe to drive. |
