Description of the problem | I was driving straight on dry pavement at approximately 40 miles per hour (the speed limit) when the car suddenly started violently shaking from left to right. Imagine an excited dog wagging its tail and body. That was my car. A yellow light was flashing on and off, but i could not determine what it was under the circumstances. The car was making a grinding noise. I immediately started slowing the car down. The brakes were grinding when i depressed them. I pulled into a parking lot to see if i could see something wrong. I left the car running. There was nothing visible. I got back into the car and drove about a block and the same thing happened again so i pulled off again, got out and looked again and saw nothing. I cannot remember if i shut the car off or not. I was only about 4 miles from home, so i decided to at least try to get closer to home before i called someone for help. I was able to drive the car home without incident. I looked in the manual to try to figure out what the light was and it was the traction control. When i restarted the car, it was acting normal. According to the manual, if there was something wrong, the light would stay on. I have driven the car about 20-25 more miles since and it has not reoccurred. I have been driving many years and have never had a car act like this. I did some searching on the internet and have found multiple mustang drivers that have had similar experiences with years 2011 and newer. I also read that ford has had other models recalled for similar problems, but not mustang. I am taking it in tomorrow to get the passenger airbag recall serviced. I told the dealership about this problem and they are going to look at it (for $112) and tell me what they find. |
