Description of the problem	Check engine light came on and i took the vehicle to the local dealership. The service representative informed me this was a stretched timing chain issue - a common issue with gmc acadias. Upon searching the internet for error code p0008 it pulls up loads of information regarding the acadia timing chain issue. In fact, model years 2007 through 2009 had an extended warranty issued for them up to 120,000 miles for this exact same issue. My vehicle is a 2010 and is experiencing the same issue that was recalled, and my vehicle was most likely manufactured during the time they were experiencing timing chain issues. My timing chain failed at only 71,000 miles, well below the recommended timeline. I called gmc to file a claim and see if they would cover this under some warranty. I was told by the representative that they were aware of these problems but since i purchased the vehicle used, there was nothing they would do for me. I have performed all maintenance on the vehicle at the recommended intervals and still experienced a failure. This was an extremely expensive fix that was unacceptable since it should not have happened in the first place. Gmc should stand by their products when they are aware of issues like this.
