Description of the problem | Throttle body replacement: check engine light comes on while driving the vehicle, then a message displaying "engine power reduced, service stabilitrak." then vehicle immediately slows down and cannot travel above 30 miles per hour. Took it in to the local gmc dealer service department, who pulled the code indicating it was a throttle body issue. Charged us $120 to clean the throttle body, only to have the problem resurface hours later. Now waiting for replacement throttle body part to arrive, which they insist will solve the problem for roughly $350 parts and labor. Shop also informed us problem can be temporarily circumvented by turning off the vehicle, then turn it back on. Often the engine will no longer be in reduced power mode for anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes, then will throw the message and repeat the issue. |
