Description of the problem	The dashboard in my 2013 gmc sierra 2500hd has a crack that runs from the radius of the upper left hand corner of the passenger side airbag to the fwd edge of the dashboard that runs parallel to the windshield. The crack penetrates through the dashboard completely creating two separate sections with almost complete freedom of movement. Activation by the airbag will cause interference/contact between the device, and/or its components, and with the non-secured sections of the dashboard and most likely result in them being separated/dislodged and potentially launched in the cabin resulting in possible strikes to occupants. The vehicle was parked in my driveway with no crack and when i emerged the next morning and entered the vehicle, started the engine, the crack occurred. The mere potential for interference between the air bag activation and broken dashboard sections, obviously due to a poor, insufficiently tested design, (reliability testing?) should drive the engineers to revisit current risk analysis tools. It's clear the rpn for this type of failure mode in an fmea would not qualify under current industry standards.
