Description of the problemOn 9/16/14, i got into my car and started the engine. Upon starting the engine, both airbags blew up. There was no accident or impact, they just blew up. There was nobody in the passenger seat and that one blew up too. I reported this incident to gm and they investigated it and have denied paying to repair damages. They say there was corrosion in the airbag sensor. Nowhere in the owners manual does it say that i am responsible for maintaining these connections. This is a life safety device that should be assembled with the highest level of care a precision. This is not the responsibility or the owner or operator, it is faulty equipment and should be the responsibility of gm. Now i have a car that i cannot drive, it has two blown airbags. It would appear that gm has had this problem ongoing, there are lots of complaints out there and it needs to be addressed. I find it hard to believe that corrosion could cause deployment of airbags at any moment. I could have been driving when this happened and could have caused a serious accident and or injury.
