Description of the problem | On a sunday morning, i started my car in a driveway - turned on the heater and allowed the car to warm up. When i began to back out of the driveway there was a bunch of thick smoke coming from the hood of the car. Then, i heard a loud pop sound and turned off the engine and quickly jumped out of the car. A mechanic looked at my car and determined that the water pump froze which caused the alternator belt to break. The next day, once my car was towed to the dealership, the determination was confirmed by the service department at the dealership. But, as to this day - i don't know why it happened. Do i have a lemon or will this happen again? Could this happen while i'm driving causing a horrible accident? After all, this car only had 18,571 miles on it and i bought it new on march 9, 2014. I am very concerned because of the unknown future safety risk. |
