Description of the problem | Passenger air bag will not deploy by design when someone who does meet weight criteria is seated. This is a 2017 honda civic 5-door purchased new in dec. 2016 & has had this issue since purchase. Per honda & honda servicing dealers the sensor is designed to deactivate passenger air bag if weight threshold not met. My wife is 5 ft. 5 in. & approx. 125 pounds, & whenever she is seated the air bag indicator is off. Per honda & honda servicing dealer the 4 ways to deal with this are : 1. Move front seat all the way back ( no air bag function ). 2. Have her sit in back seat. 3. Not have her in car at all. 4. Get another vehicle that has functioning passenger air bag. These are official repair solutions per honda tech support & honda servicing dealer. |
