Description of the problem | My car has about 8800 miles. Had the engine oil first changed at 6100 miles. Since then, the engine oil level keeps rising during normal use. The oil level is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the full line. Honda dealership says that nothing is wrong, and that no one else has had problems. When i had the oil changed by an independent mechanic, they stated the following: "oil consistency was like water and smells of gas. Oil registered overfilled. Oil is also leaking from rear main seal area. Recommend having this checked by honda." if you look online, there are plenty of complaints about oil dilution in the 1. 5 l turbo engine. Consumer reports investigated this issue and confirmed the problem. Because of oil dilution, some engines have been stalling while on the road. Not only is this a quality issue, but it is a safety issue in the long run. |
