Description of the problem | Received a notice from honda about a recall to update software and change a/c module to prevent mil from coming on. Went to dealer and had service completed and was told they had to change the engine oil per honda due to possible contamination from the service action. But i would have to pay for the filter. Twelve dollars is not a huge amount, but there is no way the oil would be contaminated by this service action. Now there is a well known issue with honda crvs concerning oil dilution. This service bulletin does not in any manner allude to this problem, but does seem to be aimed directly at it. The dealer service managers express no knowledge of any oil issues. I have tried to contact honda regarding this and no reply. As a side note honda is offering canadian owners a free extended warranty due to this issue, and to us buyers won't even acknowledge the problem. |
