Description of the problem | Rear liftgate struts on 2007 honda odyssey experienced sudden failure causing the rear liftgate to suddenly close on person standing beneath. Saturday 08/07 liftgate was functioning properly, lifted and closed no issues. Sunday 08/08 opened the liftgate and proceeded underneath as the liftgate came crashing down. No longer has strut assist to open or support liftgate in open position. Struts are manufactured by stabilus part # 6826ur 0810n 251/06 a5 also has this number 74820-shj-a012. There is a safety recall for this exact issue in the 2005 honda odyssey nhtsa action number ea08015. Contacted dealer and scheduled an appointment to fix - at my own expense - as there is no recall notice for the 2007 sudden strut failure. |
