Description of the problemAfter stopping at a stop sign, the transmission did not engage. The gears were grinding and eventually they snapped into position causing the vehicle to lunge forward. On another occasion, i was slowing down approaching a traffic circle, as i tried to enter the circle the transmission did not engage. Fortunately i had enough momentum to pull to the side to avoid being hit by on coming traffic. The final incident i had before bringing the car in for service (which is another story) involved an attempt to enter a highway after slowing down, where once again the transmission did not engage. Once again i was able to pull to the side to avoid a collision. This is definitely in my mind a major safety concern and i am not the only one to have this issue. My car has now been at the hyundai dealer for 60 days "waiting" for a transmission to arrive with no arrival date available or eta of completion in the foreseeable future.
