Component | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM |
Product type code | VEHICLE |
Description of the problem | Issue 1: the gas gauge improperly represents the fuel level in the tank and the following issues are constantly present: 1) a full tank is never shown via the gauge 2) the gas gauge sporadically jumps around regardless of the amount of gas in the tank 3) the "empty" light comes on when there is as much as 1/2 tank of gas 4) the full volume of the tank cannot be filled because the fueling pump is automatically shut off by the tank issue 2: also, the car fails to start. After turning the ignition switch the engine will just rev without full ignition of the engine. It seems as if gas is not being provided by the fuel system during the ignition sequence. The fuel pressure of the tank seems to be the malfunctioning issue. |
