 Description of the problemWhile driving on the highway the collision sensors on the vehicle suddenly turned off. This is common and i simply turned them back on. A few minutes later they turned back off followed by a brief flash of the traction control light about a minute later. The braking system engaged without warning, two yellow lights illuminated where the forward collision sensor typically alerts, for roughly a second and a half despite all collision sensors registering as off-line and in a failed state. While attempting to stop the vehicle the braking system then failed to operate as expected. I had to push the pedal all the way to the floor, the abs system engaged and stopping distance was greatly increased. Following that all of the dash lights illuminated, the system reported 2 sensor failures and a chassis control failure. The dealership has determined this is due to an electrical short in the rear abs sensor. This is the third electrical system issue i have had but is the most serious. I'm concerned because something as simple as an abs sensor failing, not to mention failing because of a short, can cause the braking system to engage unexpectedly and not engaged as expected while attempting to stop.
