Description of the problem | The transmission spun into neutral and finally gave out at mile 2300. It had been acting erratically ever since mile 500, it would surge forward as my foot was off the gas around 30 mph. Up until that time the transmission would act erratic, the cruise control light would come on and off, 2 driving cycles the radio/ climate control screen did not turn on which indicated to me that it was a computer malfunction of some sort. Before it gave out i noticed that the rpm meter was at 5000 at 55 mph then it slipped . I then coasted into the center lane in traffic to turn it off hoping to reset it, it allowed me to take it home before it gave out again. It is currently at the dealer for repair. I was pained to hear of very similar stories from other brand new jeep owners as this seems to be a known problem. |
