Description of the problem | The transmission does not automatically downshift out of 3rd gear when coming to a stop or at a brief stop resulting in loss of power at take off. Trying to accelerate from a stop while in 3rd gear results in significant delay in power. This hesitation is similar to stalling which is very dangerous when pulling into traffic. Jeep has stated that this is normal and that you must always come to a complete extended stop before the transmission will down shift. This is not feasible when a complete stop is not necessary or required like when a light changes to green when you are coming to a stop, or you are merging into traffic with a yield sign. This is an accident waiting to happen, or is already resulting in accidents that are classified as your vehicle didn't yield to right of way, even though this stall like scenario is the primary contributor. |
