Description of the problem | While driving the vehicle, the engine will default to limp mode due to the transmission. This usually happens when the transmission temperature reaches 181 degrees. While driving, i observed the transmission temperature each time the check engine light illuminated with the words "service transmission", the engine reduces speed and will not accelerate. This forces me to pull over and let the transmission cool down. Once cooled down, the jeep will operate normally until the transmission temperature reaches 181 degrees again. The cycle repeats when the vehicle is driven for longer periods of time. (1 to 2 hours) it happens when driving on the highway more often than in town. |
