Description of the problemWhile driving the speed limit on the highway i was approaching slow traffic. I tried to apply the brakes but the brakes were hard and failed to work properly. The vehicle did slow down a little bit but not enough to stop the vehicle. I was going 55mph and then traffic slowed to about 20-25mph but couldn't. I had to veer off into the left lane to avoid hitting the car in front of me. It wasn't the anti-lock brakes kicking in either. I the brakes were just failing. The second occurrence was the next day when i was approaching an intersection to make a right hand turn i tried to apply the brakes but again the brakes were hard, as if the pedal fully depressed without applying any brake. Luckily i was cautious from the previous incident and was approaching the intersection at a low rate of speed. I was able to just barely make the turn without colliding with another car. Thankfully there weren't any pedestrians crossing the street, in new york city this is a rarity. After all this happened i checked any recalls with my vehicle and saw the brake booster recall. I called two jeep dealers ( bayside jeep in ny and east hills jeep in ny) and both gave me a hard time saying that there is not a recall out for my vehicle. They are saying my vin # does not have a recall against it but jeep hasn't assigned the recall to any specific vin #s, they say to just bring it in to get checked out. Since this wasn't a mandatory recall to my vin# i wasn't given an appointment for service for 1week at bayside jeep and 2days later at east hills jeep. I was given attitude and didn't even care that this was a major safety issue.
