Description of the problem	May 2016 our jeep gc rolled down the driveway and smashed into our garage. My wife swears she put it in park to exit the vehicle at the top of the driveway but it didn't go into park. She tried to get in to stop it and was almost pulled under the jeep as it rolled. Neighbor screamed to her to let it go and she did before she got hurt. Called the police, notified my insurance agent and my jeep dealer' who is a good friend. Jeep dealer informed me of a recall that was just issued for the electronic shifter not going into park. (s27) your 16v240000. I notified fca and asked why i was not notified of the recall. Took three weeks to get a copy of recall. The recall says" your vehicle may roll away if the engine is running, the parking brake is not engaged and the vehicle is not in the park position before exiting. Drivers may inadvertently fail to achieve the park position before exiting the vehicle. The electronic shift lever in your vehicle does not move like a conventional shifter." i had the jeep repaired and the damage to our house garage. Had the recall preformed on the jeep. They just flashed the computer so if the door is now open the transmission automatically goes to park. The recall says "fca will repair the vehicle free of charge but a permanent remedy is under development. If you have already experienced this condition and have paid to have it repaired fca will reimburse you." i know the $1000 deductible we paid to our insurance company to have the jeep repaired wasn't a repair to the shifter but there wasn't anything broken with it. It was just not properly programmed from fca in the beginning. I am trying to get our $1000 deductible refunded. If fca didn't have a problem, why were the jeeps recalled and reprogrammed. This could have been a catastrophic accident if someone was killed. We have owned 16 jeeps since 1981. I have all my records and communication.
