Description of the problemWhile parked in my driveway, unoccupied, and engine not running, the active headrest restraint system on the drivers side deployed. There was no collision or contact with anything to cause deployment. The mechanize internal parts the keep the headrest together broke causing deployment and not allowing the headrest to be reset or put back in place. I had to put a bungie cord around the headrest to hold it back in place so i can drive the vehicle without the deployed headrest pushing against the back on my head, which is very uncomfortable. This occurred at approximately 61800 miles. My factory extended warranty expired at 60000. Even thought the dealer is familiar with this problem fca will not cover this repair which was quoted at $900. I was also told the parts are back ordered with no date as when they will be available. This is a defective safety part problem which fca should be required issue a recall.*dt*jb
