Description of the problemThe active head rest on the passenger care deployed without warning or collision as the vehicle was parked with the engine turned off. The vehicle was never involved in any collisions or repair. Went to the local chrysler dealership that has a repair center and i was told that this item is not covered under the manufacturer extended limited warranty which i purchased and will expire in march 2020. My vehicle has 45k miles and is a 2015 model year. Looking at forums the active head rest on similar vintage vehicles are having similar problems and are indicated to be a design defect when a plastic bracket fails compromising the function of the active head rest. Currently the head rest remains deployed and i avoid sitting anybody on the passenger seat. The link below is not from my vehicle but the deployed head rest on my vehicle looks the same.
