Description of the problem | While driving on the highway at 55mph the active safety head restraint deployed, slamming the back of my head. I was able to pull over but stunned and this could have resulted in a high-speed collision. There was no impact or no triggering event to this. A preliminary call to a dealership indicates this is "somewhat common" and is not under warranty at over $700 for repair. I believe this is an clear manufacturing defect on a feature that can directly cause injury or result in an accident. Like an airbag, this device should be under recall for random deployments. |
