Description of the problem | While the jeep was stationary, in park and with no other stimulus (no contact on the car or the headrest itself), the passenger side headrest snapped forward. I performed a visual inspection and saw that the device had not activated, instead the plastic strut that held the metal retaining beam had broken, allowing the headrest to snap forward without being activated. The passenger seat was occupied when this occurred, but luckily the passenger did not have her head resting against the headrest. I consider this to be a grave safety issue, akin to an airbag deploying with no warning and with no stimulus. If the passenger had her head against the headrest, i believe the headrest could have hurt her. |
