Description of the problemThe check engine light came on and the vehicle's electronic throttle control systems was inoperable. Upon stopping and releasing the brake the vehicle lunges forward accelerating suddenly to 20 miles per hour. When place in reverse the vehicle and releasing the brake the vehicle lunges as well. Additionally, when the check engine light and electronic throttle control indicator light is on, after lunging, the vehicle will not allow you to accelerate beyond 30 to 40 mph after the initial lunge. I have had two incidents that have damaged my car. It only happens when the vehicle is in drive or reverse making it unsafe to operate.
