Description of the problem | Vehicle is equipped with the 8. 4 inch uconnect/nav 4c touch screen. This system/screen controls the radio, climate control, heated/cooled seats, phone, navigation, etc. After driving the vehicle for 20-30 minutes using only the radio, the touch screen becomes hot to the touch. Recently the screen reached 127. 7 degrees (see attached picture). Vehicle was brought to the dealer on 7/30/18 and the issue was escalated up to fiat chrysler automobiles. Fca claims the components are operating as designed. This does not seem correct. Excessively high temperatures can compromise the electronics in the dash and could lead to electrical failures and possible fire. I would appreciate nhtsa looking into this before there is a fire or possible injury. |
