Description of the problem | The engine in the car was running very roughly. It kept getting worse. We took it to the dealer and were told the rod bearings went bad at 98k miles with regular oil changes and normal driving. We were quoted $5084 for a new long block assembly or $5500 for a new short block assembly from the dealer. This repair is approximately the same amount the car is worth running and should not have to be done with such low mileage. Because we are the 2nd owners, there is no warrantee to cover the repair. We had to tow the car from the dealer and it hasn't run since. I believe this is a common defect that should be researched as kia had the same problem in the 2017 sorento/optima. I believe there will be more similar issues as other owners begin reaching the 100k mark in these vehicles and there should be a recall to cover these expensive, unnecessary repairs. |
