Description of the problemThe car was unresponsive to acceleration on highway and stalled due to faulty transmission. My wife and two kids were stranded on the highway. I took car in for concerns about transmission at 77 k miles while still under warranty and they said it was fine with no codes. The car has just over 100 k. The car was dead in the water. I had to get car towed to the nissan dealership one mile away. Doing more research on the transmission and saw the overwhelming evidence that the cvt transmission in the 13 and 14 is absolutely terrible and nissan knows it. The transmission was out of warranty, but have seen that nissan knows the transmissions are faulty and have helped people with repair costs. So i contacted nissan north america and they said i did not meet the criteria for which they would help. I asked what was the criteria? From the information i gathered, they will not help in replacing the transmission unless you have spent a boatload of money at the dealership service center. I had a friend of mine, same thing happened to trans, nissan paid for 70% of transmission repair. I learned that he had previously spent thousands at the service center on other repairs and he was approved. I argued with nissan that i am being penalized for having a car that worked well and did not have a bunch of repairs. So the bottom line is that nissan will help only those who have spent thousands at their service centers. They talked to me about customer loyalty. I said how can i be a loyal customer after this. Nissan has sold a bunch of lies and continues to lie to customers about the transmissions. They should have been a service recall after the overwhelming evidence of the faulty transmission. Never nissan.
