Description of the problem | Radiator fan assembly. My vehicle is at appx 41k miles. A few weeks a loud metallic clanking noise began emanating from the engine compartment. Our mechanic identified the issue as the driver side radiator fan (this model has 2 fans housed in one assembly) hitting the assembly shroud. The bearings have malfunctioned causing the blade to rotate off axis. If the blade shears off or breaks it would likely puncture the radiator assembly which could lead to overheating or fire. Nissan has not addressed this as a recall issue, though there are numerous reports of a similar problem in nissan owner forums. This whole dual fan assembly must be replaced, but the problem has occurred so often that the assembly is not available. Mine was ordered on feb 9th. There is no release date for the part from nissan. |
