Description of the problem | After hearing rattling under the hood, i took my car to the nissan dealership. They told me that the fan shroud needed to be replaced. This cost is over $900. The dealership told me to call nissan to ask them to pay for the part. The dealership explained that this part is breaking in almost all nissan pathfinders somewhere between 40,000 and 60,000 miles. My car had ~54,000 miles. I had to fight with nissan to cover the cost of the part. They originally only wanted to cover 80%, which i found to be unacceptable, since it was clearly a manufacturing problem. I would like the nhtsa to issue a recall so no one else has to go through this to get the part fixed. I was lucky my dealership was honest about the problem being a widespread pathfinder problem. I would hate for someone else to have to pay so much money for a manufacturing defect. |
