Description of the problem | A cylinder head bolt snapped, sending part of the washer into the camshaft, seizing it and stripping the timing belt. Upon further inspection, it was determined that a head bolt on the opposite cylinder head had snapped at some time in the past, but caused no damage. Cost of replacing all the bolts and head gaskets, and re-machining the cylinder heads was $1643. We could have replaced the camshafts because the guide pins had been damaged, but the dealer advised against it because the extra cost was of marginal benefit. |
